Offering healing and empowerment to individuals enabling them to enrich their lives and reach their potential
A Souls Journey:
Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision
BA (Hons), Snr. Accred MBACP., UKRCP, BA (Hons)., Adv. Dip Couns., PG Dip., Cert. Ed,. MSC., Member of Counsellors and Psychotherapists for Social Responsibility.
I believe passionately in the potential of the human spirit and my work is dedicated to assisting individuals in reaching their own personal potential through education, counselling and psychotherapy and spiritual practice. As each individual reaches out and embraces their wholeness, they are more likely to find peace and contentment, which in turn will bring healing to our planetary family.
I qualified as a Counsellor in 2006, and as a teacher in adult education in 2007, became an Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in 2010, and a Senior Accredited member in 2017. I am currently in the process of applying for supervision accreditation. I have had a well established private practice, seeing clients for counselling, psychotherapy and supervision for over ten years and I also currently work in the NHS First Steps programme. I have worked in a GP practice, worked in an agency specialising in eating disorders and worked as a student counsellor in an FE college. I spent a number of years working as a counselling trainer in Further Education, Higher Education and in private training centres. I developed higher level courses for counsellors and was module leader in the specific areas of Professional Practice, Understanding Mental Health and in Research, and for a number of years worked for one of the principal awarding bodies of counselling qualifications within the country, at times directly working alongside the BACP.
I am committed to continuing professional development, recently completing a one year training with Babette Rothschild, one of the leading experts in the world in trauma and PTSD. I regularly attend conferences and workshops, and read widely, keeping up to date with latest research and developments in the field.
I write and research both counselling and spirituality and have had a number of articles published. I am currently completing a text book for trainee counsellors which will be available through Sage Publishing in the summer of 2019.
I recently returned to Cumbria and the area in which I grew up after living in Glastonbury for twenty five years, and also living briefly in the USA and in other areas of the UK. Growing up in Cumbria I spent much of my childhood wandering the wild fells and moors connecting deeply with the land, something which has informed my spiritual work ever since. I have studied many belief systems drawing inspiration and wisdom from them all.
