Supervision

I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists using an integrative approach, with a particular focus on the humanistic and transpersonal. I have supervised counsellors for a number of years, both in my private practice but also within training settings where I have supported students through all aspects of their training and therefore have a good understanding of the requirements of many training organisations, and the demands that training places on individuals. I have attended training workshops with Robin Shohet and also with CSTD (founded by Peter Hawkins) in Bath.

Although my focus is on supporting the supervisee to work safely and ethically with their clients, I also see my role as supporting the supervisee to achieve their own potential within the profession.  To do this I recognise the importance of the relationship within the work and I offer a safe, nurturing, non judgemental space, allowing supervisees to be open and honest in all the material they bring to these session

My counselling training involved a Diploma where the core approach was person centred counselling, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma which delivered an integrative approach based on Clarkson’s 5 Relationship Model.  Although the core of our work was person centred, psychodynamic approaches, psychosynthesis, gestalt, art therapy, CBT and attachment theory were also delivered.  I then completed a MSc in Counselling, with a thesis which addressed diversity issues around spirituality within counselling training.  Since completing that training I have undergone continuous CPD including most recently attending workshops on domestic abuse (Christina Sanderson), working with ex boarders (Nick Duffell) and I have just completed a one year training with Babette Rothschild using Somatic Therapy to work with PTSD and trauma.  I also attended the latest (2018) BACP Research Conference.  I continue to read and research and write.

I have a great deal of familiarity with the CPCAB training qualifications, having been involved in both delivering the qualifications and assessing and also being a qualification leader in their head office.  I have also delivered foundation degree qualifications in counselling training in HE settings.

I bring to supervision not only my own experience of working with a diverse range of clients in different settings, but also my experience as a trainer and assessor.

Although my preference is to work face to face, I do also offer sessions via Skype.
